New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has named the five players he considers to be his side’s captain.
While Emery revealed that France international centre-back Laurent Koscielny will be his matchday captain, he also expects other senior players like Mesut Ozil, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka to perform leadership roles within the Gunners dressing room.
“The first captain in this group is Koscielny. Then I told the players it will be Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.
“In my career, I want leaders in the team. The representation for every player and every time in the season, [there needs to be] the capacity to do that.
“Maybe there will be more more leaders in the team to show this capacity. Not only the players in the captain’s group.
“These five players are in this possibility to be the captain.”
