Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that his preferred position is as a central striker, adding that he thinks it is the position that he is ‘best’ in.
Aubameyang only moved to the Premier League 12 months ago, but quickly adapted to life in England, netting a hugely impressive 28 goals in 44 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.
He has been utilised in a variety of positions during his time at Arsenal, including through the middle and on either flank. However, speaking ahead of this weekend’s tasty looking fixture against Man City, the Gabon international has announced that he feels like he is at his best when played as a central striker.
“My favourite role is playing striker, in front. I also like playing on the wing, but I think my best position is striker,” he told Sky Sports.
“I like to play with two up front, it’s nice because you can do some combinations with the other strikers.
“If the coach needs me on the right or on the left, it doesn’t matter, I go and I fight for the team, it’s no problem.”
Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Cardiff in midweek combined with Chelsea‘s 4-0 hammering at the hands of Bournemouth saw the Gunners move up into the top four, as they look to secure Champions League football for the first time in three years.
