Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be watching the progress of Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo ahead of a summer move.
Kubo has been one of the stand-out players in Spanish football this season for a Sociedad side who qualified impressively for the Champions League’s knockout rounds.
The Japan international has also scored six goals and laid on three assists in La Liga, while ranking among the division’s top players for progressive carries (4th), carries into the penalty box (4th) and chances created (7th).
Kubo was named as Real Sociedad’s Player of the Season last season after joining from Real Madrid on a permanent deal, and Football Espana are reporting that the winger has turned down approaches to leave the Basque Country for the Saudi Pro League this month.
Several Saudi sides have expressed interest in the 22-year-old, though Kubo has no intention of leaving Sociedad mid-season.
That news will be a boost to Arsenal and Tottenham, who are among the winger’s suitors. Any move will need to wait until the summer transfer window with his โฌ60m (ยฃ51.4m) making Kubo an attainable option for the North London duo.
Real Madrid are reportedly entitled to 50% of that fee as part of a sell-on agreement in the โฌ6m deal that took Kubo to San Sebastiรกn in 2022.
