Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the situation surrounding Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller according to reports.

The Daily Mirror claim that the two Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the German international who has seemingly fallen down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena. Both clubs are believed to have made enquiries for the 28-year-old although the serial Bundesliga winners were unwilling to do business at that time.

Muller is of course a former target for Manchester United during David Moyes and Louis van Gaal’s respective reigns at Old Trafford.

Ancelotti has selected Poland striker Robert Lewandowski and Spain star Thiago ahead of Muller this season, with the German only a substitute in Bayern’s last Bundesliga match against Werner Bremen, only coming off the bench with 17 minutes to go. Furthermore, he has completed just one 90 minutes in the club’s opening  four games of the season.

Muller still has four years remaining in his current contract tract at Bayern Munich, where he has scored 161 goals in 399 appearances.
