Arsenal accept loan offer for out-of-favour forward

Arsenal are prepared to accept a loan bid for Eddie Nketiah from Marseille, with the deal to include an obligation to make the move permanent.

Marseille have seen a โ‚ฌ20m (ยฃ16.8m) bid turned down for the 25-year-old who is keen to leave Arsenal in search of first-team football, with the French side’s proposal having fallen below Arsenal’s valuation.

Nketiah has agreed personal terms on a potential five-year deal with Marseille but the breakdown in negotiations over a fee stalled a move.

However, The Athletic are reporting that Arsenal are prepared to sanction a loan exit provided the deal includes an obligatory โ‚ฌ30m purchase clause.

Nketiah is keen to quit Arsenal after making just 10 league starts last season, with the forward struggling to dislodge Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for a regular role.

Marseille will now make a decision on whether to proceed with the deal as Roberto De Zerbi pushes for the signing of the one-cap England international.

The former Brighton boss has took charge of Marseille this summer and has been active in the transfer market, with the Ligue 1 side’s additions including the arrivals of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham.
