Arne Slot teases Liverpool ‘announcement’ ahead of managerial appointment

Arne Slot says there will be “announcement” on his future in the “next days and weeks” as Liverpool look to confirm him as their next manager.ย

The Reds have landed on the Dutchman as their primary candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout ahead of next season, with reports claiming a compensation package has been agreed with his current club, Feyenoord.

The 45-year-old caught the beginning of Liverpool‘s win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday before guiding his team to a 5-0 win over PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie.

โ€œI saw a few minutes of the game but we had to come to the stadium,” Slot said, as quoted by The Athletic.

“Just the first goal, a great goal. It was a good win from Liverpool. If the official confirmation is there, and I go there, I will watch a lot of games from them.

โ€œSometimes in life, opportunities come along and you have to listen. I have made that choice for myself. In the next days and weeks, you will see the announcement.”

Slot had been linked with the Spurs job last summer before Ange Postecoglou was hired, but chose to remain at Feyenoord this season.

โ€œLast year I made the choice to stay and now, I probably made another choice.โ€

The Rotterdam outfit reached the Uefa Europa Conference League final in his first season in charge before winning the league title the following year. This term his side won the KNVB Cup.
