Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly one of the leader contenders to land one of footballs biggest jobs.
According to the Sun on Sunday, the Italian is his on a list of candidates to replace Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu next summer.
Conte has made no secret of his discontent at Stamford Bridge, telling the press that he is already looking forward to returning to Italy, while also constantly speaking of his players tiredness in a thinly veiled dig at the club’s inability to sign enough players in the transfer market last summer.
He was heavily linked with a move to free spending AC Milan in the summer, but while he has made no secret of his desire to return to Italy, the lure of the 12 time European champions could be too big an opportunity for him to turn down, should it arise.
The Italian seemingly has the magic touch, taking Chelsea from 10th to first in his debut campaign in the Premier League, as well as having successful spells at Juventus and as the Italian National Team coach.
His achievements haven’t gone unnoticed in the Spanish capital, where Real Madrid are looking for potential replacements for Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman has had a difficult season this year, with his side only sitting in fourth place in La Liga behind Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid rivals, Atletico.
Zidane has just over six months remaining on his current deal at the club, and despite winning the last two Champions League titles, and last seasons Spanish League title, he could be allowed to leave.
