Anthony Gordon sustained a “worrying” hip injury while on England duty, according to Thomas Tuchel.

The Newcastle United winger dropped to the ground nursing his injury at the full-time whistle of the Three Lions’ 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley Stadium.

Gordon received treatment on the pitch once the game finished and went straight down the tunnel while the players applauded the supporters.

The problem was seemingly incurred shortly after the 24-year-old replaced Marcus Rashford in the 74th minute when he was involved in a challenge.

“He looks injured,” Tuchel said. “First of all I thought it was his stomach but it is his hip and it does not look good. It’s a bit worrying.“

Gordon is currently serving a three-match ban for his club after being sent off in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion. His suspension concludes after Newcastle’s next Premier League game, against Brentford at St. James’ Park, on 2 April. He missed the Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool as well as the league victory over West Ham United.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry found the target on Friday night to hand Tuchel his first win as England boss and begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on top of Group K.
