Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said he is not interested in signing players who are only interested in Champions League football.
United have endured a disappointing domestic campaign and are 14th in the Premier League table. The Red Devils are guaranteed their lowest points total of the Premier League era and are set for a first bottom-half finish since 1990.

Amorim has been linked with a move to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer, as the club search for a reliable goal presence. The 40-year-old worked with Gyokeres at Sporting, where the Swedish striker has scored 95 goals in 98 games across the last two seasons.
Reports this week suggested Gyokeres has not yet given the ‘green light’ to a reunion, as he awaits to discover whether the club can provide Champions League football. United can secure a place in the competition with victory in the Europa League, ahead of tonight’s semi-final first leg with Athletic Bilbao.
However, Amorim has said he has held no talks with Gyokeres and only wants players who want to represent the club. He wants any new signings to buy into the project – with or without the carrot of Champions League football.
โI didnโt talk to him (Gyokeres). But if a player only wants to come to Manchester United to play Champions League, then he wonโt come,” Amorim told Sport.
“We want players who want to represent United, not players who want to play certain competitions.”
