It’s been a tough 2018 so far for Antonio Conte and his Chelsea side.
The Blues have only managed to win two games in the Premier League so far this year, and came in for some heavy criticism for their lacklustre display against Manchester City at the Etihad last Sunday.
Watching Chelsea perform so meekly against Pep Guardiola’s side, made it hard to believe that this was the same team that won the EPL title at a canter last season.
One of the few players who has managed to maintain the same high level of performance during this campaign is left-wing back Marc0s Alonso, and the 27-year-old has revealed that The Blues must improve in terms of their attitude if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top four this season.
“I think it’s an attitude problem and we have to make things clearer and improve quickly because we have nine matches left and we want to be in the top four.
“The team has the conditions and quality to play much better and we have to change the attitude, right? And improve quickly because we have other very important matches coming up and we have to get in the top four.
“I don’t think we have a problem with quality, we have shown in many matches this season that we can be competitive against any team, like we were against Barcelona a couple of weeks ago and if we don’t reach that kind of level of performance in every match it’s because of our attitude.”
Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Man City last weekend means they remain in fifth position in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth placed Spurs.
