Alonso ‘really impressed’ by Chelsea teenager Satpayev

Xabi Alonso has said he has been 'really impressed' by Chelsea teenager Dastan Satpayev.

Xabi Alonso has said he has been ‘really impressed’ by Chelsea teenager Dastan Satpayev after the 17-year-old scored the first goal of his reign.

Satpayev opened the scoring during Chelsea’s 6-4 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia, blasting in at the near post inside six minutes.

The Kazakhstan international can not formally complete his transfer to Chelsea from Kairat Almaty until he turns 18 next month, but has already done enough to impress the new head coach.

Alonso said no decision has yet been made on his development, with a loan move an integration into the first-team squad both under consideration. Satpayev could become the first-ever Kazakh player to appear in a Premier League match this season.

“We still have to take decisions,” Alonso said on his immediate future.

“I knew Dastan from Almaty. He is a ball threat, he attacks the inner channel well and is good as a striker coming from the outside.

“He is really strong, really quick and I have been really impressed with him.”
