Alisson Becker is confident that Liverpool’s defence can cope against Bayern Munich, despite the absence of Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool take on the German champions at Anfield on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, but will have to play without their defensive stalwart van Dijk, whose booking in their last outing against Napoli sees him serving a one match suspension.
The Dutchman has started every single one of Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League games this season, and has been credited with being the key factor with the Reds’ vastly improved defensive record.
However, Brazilian ‘keeper Alisson has said that he is confident that whoever plays at the back against Bayern Munich will be able to perform.
“All the defenders have played so when one comes in and one leaves, we donโt feel that loss because weโre all used to each other,” Alisson told Premier League Productions.
“That the backline are all able to communicate with each other, and know each other really well, is vital for any team.
“Once youโve cracked it, youโve got it โ and we seem confident.”
