Alexis Sanchez has his say on Manchester United new boy Fred

It’s only been a few days since Brazilian Fred has linked up with the United squad but it seems he is already making a big impression on some of the players.

United purchased Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of around £54 million with the hope that he would be able to solve their problems in midfield. The idea was that Fred would be able to free up United’s main man Paul Pogba, allowing him to roam more forward. Fred would also be able to provide defensive cover for United, making a name for himself as a box-to-box midfielder in the Ukraine.

The Brazilian clearly provides something United sorely lacked last season which is a link from defense into attack and judging by what team-mate Alexis Sanchez has said, it looks like Fred will be able to provide exactly that.

Sanchez told Sky Sports: “From what I’ve seen in training, Fred is a player who always wants to get forward, he is always trying to get forward and from a personal point of view I think we’ll be able to combine well and it will be good for my game.”

From the looks of pre-season it doesn’t seem like Fred will need much time to settle in and with this likely being Jose Mourinho’s last season to prove himself, he’ll need United’s new boy to hit the ground running.
