Alexis Sanchez has demanded a huge new financial package to get him to stay at Arsenal.
The Mirror are reporting that the Chilean international has demanded an eye watering £400,000-a-week deal to keep him at the Emirates beyond this summer.
A contract of this size would see him become the highest paid player in the Premier League. It is also a staggering £125,000-a-week above Arsenal’s current £275,000-a-week offer, which would already smash their own wage structure by a considerable amount.
Sanchez has been linked with moves to Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern Munich over the course of the summer, and is expected to leave the Emirates.
There had been suggestions that the signing of Alexandre Lacazette for a club record deal worth up to €60m could help to tempt Sanchez to stay, but it looks fairly certain that Arsenal will not be willing to meet these latest contract demands.
Arsenal players have returned to pre-season training already, while Sanchez himself has only just started his summer holiday following his involvement in the Confederations Cup in Russia.
He claimed that he already knows where his future lies. Arsenal are thought to be unwilling to let Sanchez move to another Premier League club, but with the threat of him leaving for free next summer, mthey could be forced to cash in. He is thought to be worth around £50m.
Should Arsenal keep Sanchez but lose him for free? Cash in while they can or give in to his wage demands? What would you do with Alexis? Leave your thoughts in the comments box.
