The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has confirmed a ‘very welcome’ offer has been submitted by Manchester City for his client.
The Italy international has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal and both Manchester clubs.
City were initially thought to be interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, with the Ukrainian side confirming recently that they turned down a €50 million bid for the Brazilian back in January.
However, they have seemingly cooled their interest in the Brazil international who now looks set to join Manchester United instead, and have turned their attention towards Napoli’s Italian international, Jorginho.
Rumours recently have suggested that the newly crowned Premier League champions have made a move for the midfielder, and that has now been confirmed by the players’ agent, who has said a move to the Etihad ‘couldn’t be turned down’:
“I know that an offer has arrived from Manchester City to Napoli,” said Joao Santos.
“We’re waiting for the Italians’ response, I don’t think they’ve rejected offers. If Napoli find an agreement with City we’ll evaluate everything.
“Obviously Manchester City would be very welcome, and couldn’t be turned down.”
