Everton youngster Ademola Lookman has revealed that he enjoys the pressure that playing professional football brings.
The 21-year-old has risen from the lowly ranks of non-league football all the way up to the Premier League via Charlton Athletic, but he is seemingly not overawed by the burden of competing at such a high level.
If anything, it seems the young English forward would relish more of it – having only made three league starts for the Toffees this season.
Lookman has a bright outlook on the sport however, and wants to ‘have fun’ whenever he does feature for Everton’s first team.
โIt is always important to feel you have the managerโs trust,โ Lookman told evertonfc.com.
โOnce you go out there it enables you to play free.
โI have always thought about football in terms of enjoying myself. I still play football for fun and that is what I want to do my whole career, God willing.
โI enjoy expressing myself and I enjoy the pressure of football.
โYou may not think it but when I was playing Sunday league, I was feeling pressure. I donโt want to sound big headed, but I was the main player in the team and always wanted to do better than last week.
โI would put pressure on myself, regardless. But I always just wanted to have fun.โ
Everton don’t play again until the February 26 as a result of their FA Cup exit to Millwall last month.
