AC Milan vs Ferencvaros – Match preview and team news
- Date: Thursday, 5th November.
- Kick-off: 5:45pm BST.
- Venue: San Siro, Milan.
AC Milan team news
AC Milan enters this continental clash facing a severe squad crisis that will force manager Rúben Amorim into significant rotation. The Rossoneri are heavily depleted following a gruelling, high-intensity derby victory against Inter Milan.
Compounding their tactical challenges, first-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan is suspended after receiving a direct red card during matchday three.
In his absence, 20-year-old academy prospect Lorenzo Torriani is highly anticipated to make his European debut between the posts. Milan’s medical room is currently overflowing with six crucial first-team regulars officially ruled out. Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Samuel Chukwueze, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and backup goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano are all sidelined.
Consequently, Amorim is heavily tipped to lean on youth, handing starts to starlets like Davide Bartesaghi, Alphadjo Cisse, and Omari Hutchinson to inject freshness into a fatigued side.
Ferencvaros team news
Ferencváros arrives at the San Siro with a robust squad and a nearly clean bill of health. Manager Balázs Borbély enjoys excellent luxury in selection, dealing with minimal disruptions to his tactical blueprint.
The Hungarian champions are only missing Slovakian midfielder Matús Bero and long-term injury absentee Bence Ötvös, who continues his lengthy recovery from an ACL tear.
Borbély’s key tactical weapons are fully fit and carrying immense momentum into this European fixture. Kristoffer Zachariassen and Bamidele Isa Yusuf are both in stellar form, having featured prominently on the scoresheet during their recent commanding domestic triumph over Paks.
They will spearhead a dangerous, full-strength frontline. Boasting high morale and superior squad depth compared to Milan’s makeshift lineup, the visitors are primed to field their strongest possible XI to exploit the Italian giants’ defensive vulnerabilities.
Form
AC Milan
AC Milan displays highly erratic form, blending stellar domestic highs with continental struggles. Rúben Amorim’s men enter high on morale following a commanding 3-1 Derby della Madonnina victory against local rivals Inter Milan. However, their recent five-match run highlights severe inconsistency, featuring a 2-0 league win over Udinese offset by a heavy 3-0 loss away to Bournemouth and a chaotic 4-2 home defeat against Bologna.
Ferencvaros
Ferencváros travels to Italy in flawless, clinical form, carrying a staggering 20-match unbeaten streak. The Hungarian giants are flying high in the Europa League, comfortably sitting fourth in the tournament table following three consecutive victories, including a 4-1 thrashing of Torreense and a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzeň. They maintained this momentum domestically with a convincing 2-0 clean-sheet win against Paksi SE.
Predicted lineups
AC Milan: Torriani; Gila, De Winter, Pavlovic, Bartesaghi; Hutchinson, Musah, Jashari, Cisse; Pulisic, Ramos
Ferencvaros: Radnoti; O. Nagy, Zohore, Gomez, O’Dowda; Maiga, A. Nagy; Arzani, Zachariassen, Birmancevic; Yusuf
