Just when Liverpool thought they had a battle on their hands to keep Philippe Coutinho out of Barcelona’s clutches, a new club has entered the race to sign the Brazilian.
It was a summer of speculation surrounding Coutinho’s future. At the start of the summer, he was being linked with a move to Barcelona on the recommendation of his Brazilian team mate, Neymar.
However, Neymar then famously moved to PSG in a world record £198m transfer. The speculation then changed that instead of moving to Barcelona to play with Neymar, Coutinho would move to Catalonia to replace him
However, reports in France today suggest mean that the speculation surrounding Coutinho’s future has come full circle.
Le10 Sport claim that in an attempt to further frustrate his former club Barcelona, Neymar has pursuaded PSG to try sign to sign the Liverpool playmaker. They also claim that Neymar has been speaking to his compatriot this week whilst on International duty in an attempt to get Coutinho to snub Barcelona, and join him in the French capital.
Liverpool were reluctant to sell their star asset last summer, despite receiving a bid believed to be in the region of £120m, but are thought to be willing to sell next summer.
