Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof says he is ‘very, very happy’ to be at the club, amid reported interest from Barcelona.
The Swedish defender has emerged as a surprise target for the Spanish champions, having overcome a difficult start to life in Manchester to become first-choice centre-back at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old’s impressive performances have seen him linked with a switch to Spain, with his agent recently saying his client was ‘in the orbit of a great European club’.
However, speaking at a press conference in Perth, Australia, the defender has reaffirmed his commitment to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side.
“I’m very, very happy to be a Manchester United player and I’m really looking forward to this season to start and very happy here,” said Lindelof.
“That’s my answer to that.
“I always felt like a Manchester United player but last season was a better season for me, I performed better than I did in my first.
“I’m happy that people think that [he’s the best central defender at the club].
“I’m just trying to do my best every day and that’s what I work hard for every day to help the team and the club, so yeah.”
United are in the market for another centre-back this summer, with Harry Maguire said to have asked Leicester to leave, although the Foxes are set to demand a world record £80 million fee.
