Newcastle chase two left-back’s in January to solve injury crisis

Newcastle have identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Stanley N’Soki and Stoke’s Erik Pieters as they look to ease their problems at left-back.

Rafa Benitez had been in the market for a left-sided defender in the summer, and after current occupant Paul Dummett picked up an injury on international duty, the club are actively looking for reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

Both players were targeted during the summer, and The Evening Chronicle are reporting the club are ready to press ahead with transfer plans.

N’Soki could be targeted on a loan deal, with the 19-year-old having started just four Ligue 1 games for the French champions so far this season. Pieters is believed to be open to a move to St James’ Park, with the Dutch full-back currently plying his trade in The Championship following Stoke’s relegation last season.
