Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a free transfer for Andy Robertson, who left Liverpool after nine years, as an agreement with Spurs is in principle, with only the finer details now remaining.
Robertson, 32, said his goodbyes on Sunday. He bowed out in a 1-1 draw with Brentford, his final outing after nine years at Anfield. He had already announced his exit once his contract expires this summer.
Andy Robertson closes in on Tottenham move after Liverpool exit
The full-back joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and barely looked back. He racked up 378 appearances and won the lot. That haul included two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
This season, though, summer signing Milos Kerkez pushed him down the pecking order. So Robertson decided it was time to play regularly again.
Spurs know him well. They first moved for the left-back in January, when Thomas Frank was still in charge.

Pact expected to be respected and deal to be signed soon despite Juventus proposal to try hijack the deal.

The clubs even reached an agreement. But it collapsed after Liverpool failed to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.
Plenty has shifted in north London since then. Roberto de Zerbi has taken over, and Spurs survived only on the final day.
A nervy 1-0 win over Everton kept them up and sent West Ham down instead. De Zerbi rates the Scot highly, by all accounts. With safety secured, the long pursuit can finally go through.
Robertson had options elsewhere, too. Juventus pushed hard late on, yet he chose to stay in English football. An official announcement should follow within the fortnight.
He now turns to a busy summer. His 92 Scotland caps make him a natural leader, and he will captain the side at their first World Cup in 28 years.
Scotland sit in a daunting Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti. First, though, come two warm-ups: Curacao in Glasgow on 30 May, then Bolivia in New Jersey on 6 June.
