Arne Slot has said he is looking forward to next season despite rumours surrounding his future at Liverpool.
Slot’s position at Anfield has been under scrutiny after a difficult defence of the Premier League title. Liverpool are fifth in the table, with Champions League qualification still not mathematically secured ahead of the final fixtures this weekend.
Rumours this week circled that Slot could leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign, with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola mooted as a potential replacement.
Slot, however, has no doubt he will be in charge and said he’s looking forward to bouncing back next season.
“I think usually at the end of the season you are looking forward to it ending because it has usually been a long season if you work in England! There a lot of games,” he said at his pre-match press conference, ahead of facing Brentford.
“I think maybe last season I wouldn’t have minded if it had kept on going because it was quite nice after we won the league that we had a few games to play, but still then you feel like enough is enough it is time to go on holiday and prepare for the next season.
“As I say, I’m looking forward to Sunday because it is a vital game for us. But I am also looking forward to next season to continue evolving this team.”
