Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
United are keen to sign at least two new midfielders in the summer transfer window, as Casemiro prepares to leave the club at the end of his contract. Manuel Ugarte is also expected to move on, with two or three midfielders targeted as part of a midfield overhaul.
Ederson has remerged as an option for the Red Devils, after previous interest in the player. The Brazil international will have just 12 months to run on his contract in the summer, and has impressed the club’s recruitment team.
Atletico Madrid had agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old, but have since turned their attention to Wolves’ Joao Gomes.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, United have now agreed terms with Ederson on a contract until 2031. The Red Devils are prepared to offer the Italian see a fee of around €45m (£38.9m) to get a deal done.
Alongside Ederson, United are targeting a Premier League-proven option to reinforce their midfield group.
The club have interest Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali. Other options being explored include West Ham youngster Mateus Fernandes.
