Sheffield United welcome Championship leaders Coventry City to Bramall Lane this evening.
Both teams secured important wins at the weekend, with the Blades relegating arch-rivals Sheffield Wednesday with victory in the Steel City Derby. A win tonight would continue the club’s recent improvement under Chris Wilder and move Sheffield United within six points, in yet another congested Championship campaign.
Coventry arrive top of the table and with the chance to extend their advantage over Middlesbrough to five points. The Sky Blues are chasing a return to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.
Sheffield United team news
Chris Wilder will be without Kalvin Phillips for tonight’s tie after the midfielder’s red card against Sheffield Wednesday. Phillips was dismissed for a high challenge and the on-loan Manchester City star will serve a suspension. He joins another loanee, Joe Rothwell, in serving a ban this evening.
Callum O’Hare and Gustavo Hamer are expected to start against their former club, offering support to lone forward Patrick Bamford. The latter has reignited his career in Sheffield and has eight goals in 11 league starts this season.
