Our Premier League Awards honour the best – and worst – of the weekend action, featuring Manchester United’s late show, Hugo Ekitike and Keith Andrews.
Moment of the Week
Manchester United’s run under Michael Carrick continues. Carrick has won three on the bounce since taking over the interim reins, after a last-gasp goal sealed success against Fulham.
United looked to have snatched a draw from the jaws of victory after blowing a two-nil lead late on, only for Benjamin Sesko’s sweet stoppage-time strike to decide the game.
It took Ruben Amorim 47 games to win three in a row as Manchester United manager. Carrick has matched that feat in his opening three games. Dare we say it, but the club’s never-say-die wins over Arsenal and Fulham have reminded us of the Manchester United of old…

A special mention for Ibrahima Konate’s goalscoring return for Liverpool. The Frenchman has missed recent fixtures following the death of his father, but made an emotional return at Anfield.
His late goal was greeted with huge congratulations from his teammates and those inside the ground, with Konate visibly moved by the moment.
The sight of Alisson, who lost his own father in a tragic accident in 2021, running the length of the pitch to embrace Konate was wholesome. ‘

Player of the Week
It’s hard not to see the similarities between Hugo Ekitike and Fernando Torres. The all red adidas kit, bleached blonde hair, sharp shifts of acceleration and phenomenal finishing. Ekitike’s electric debut season at Liverpool continued this weekend as the French forward put former suitors Newcastle United to the sword at Anfield.
Two well-taken goals took him to 15 for the season in all competitions, while a growing connection between Liverpool’s leading scorer and Florian Wirtz is hugely encouraging. Ekitike was the summer signing who made an immediate impact, but the Reds’ other recruits are now starting to shine too.

Manager of the Week
What a job Keith Andrews is doing at Brentford. The set-piece coach stepped up to replace Thomas Frank last summer, during a period that saw the Bees lose both of last season’s leading scorers, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, and captain Christian Norgaard.
Many tipped Brentford for a season of struggle, but the West Londoners are making a mockery of those suggestions. A 1-0 win at Aston Villa saw Brentford climb to seventh with just five points between Andrews’ side and the Champions League places.

Aston Villa have been formidable at home this season but had no answer for Brentford’s resilience, as the visitors dealt with a first-half red card for Kevin Schade to claim an upset win with 10 men. It’s time to give Brentford their flowers – an example to many Premier League teams.
Goal of the Week
Sensational from Dominic Solanke.
The striker’s scorpion kick earned Tottenham Hotspur a point against Manchester City, as Spurs rallied from two goals down to draw in North London. It took a moment of audacious improvisation from Solanke to score the leveller, as he contorted fantastically to meet Conor Gallagher’s cross. Brilliance from the Spurs striker.

Save of the Week
Sorry, but you’re just not getting away with that is a VAR world, Neco…
Some save though, to be fair.

Stat of the Week
Raul Jimenez, record-breaker.
When you see the aplomb with which he dispatched his penalty at Manchester United this weekend, is it any wonder the Mexican has never missed from 12 yards?
12 – Raúl Jiménez has scored all 12 of his penalties in the Premier League – the most by any player with a 100% scoring record from the spot in the competition’s history, overtaking Yaya Touré (11/11). Composure. pic.twitter.com/FUSPoY4jMx
