West Ham are interested in signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves in the January transfer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo has made the signing of a centre-forward the priority next month, as the Hammers look to climb out of the Premier League’s relegation places. Defeat at Manchester City on Saturday made it six games without a win for the East Londoners.
Niclas Fullkrug is also expected to move on in January as the German looks for regular football to keep his World Cup dream alive. AC Milan are in talks over a loan deal to sign Fullkrug.
According to The Athletic, West Ham have identified Strand Larsen as their top target. The Norway international scored 14 league goals for Wolves last season but has formed part of a struggling team this season.
Wolves are winless in the Premier League and already 16 points from safety, having played a game less than 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.
Wolves will not want to lose last season’s leading scorer, but the increasing inevitability of relegation means a large offer could be considered in January.
Strand Larsen was subject of interest from Newcastle United in the summer with the Magpies having multiple bids turned down, the highest in the region of £55m. After being rejected in their attempts to sign the forward, Eddie Howe’s side signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.
A sale in January could provide Rob Edwards with funds for a rebuild at Molineux, while Strand Larsen’s valuation would likely drop with relegation. West Ham, meanwhile, are desperate to boost their own survival hopes, which could see Wolves receive an inflated offer.
