Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed he will speak with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning to determine his availability this weekend – and future at the club.
Salah was excluded from the squad to face Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek, following controversial comments in the aftermath of Liverpool’s draw at Leeds last weekend.
After remaining an unused substitute at Elland Road, the third consecutive game he had started from the bench, Salah said the club were trying to ‘throw him under the bus’ amid recent results. He also suggested a broken relationship with Slot and that the club were keen for him to leave Anfield.
Salah’s future remains up in the air and he will depart to represent Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations after the visit of Brighton on Saturday. Saudi Pro League sides are understood to be monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window.
Asked at his pre-match press conference whether Salah could feature this weekend, Slot revealed he plans to hold crunch talks ahead of the game.
“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning, the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow.
“I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying but there is not much more to say about it.
“After the Sunderland game there were a lot of conversation between his representatives and ours, between him and me.”
