The new system provided more width through wing-backs Jayden Meghoma and Djeidi Gassama, while playing two strikers up front created more attacking threat.
Rangers currently occupy fifth place in the Scottish Premiership with 12 points from nine matches, but remain 13 points behind runaway leaders Hearts. The Gers have managed just two league wins this season and desperately need to string together consecutive victories to mount any realistic challenge.
