Football Manager fans are absorbed in the Beta, with the long wait for the latest edition of the game now over.
As saves begin worldwide, recruitment becomes the primary focus for FM players. It’s commonly said in football that a good goalkeeper is worth 10 points per season, and securing your club’s long-term number one should be a priority.
We’ve listed the young shot-stoppers you should consider signing in FM26.
Best young goalkeepers in FM26
Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro (21), AZ Alkmaar
Already cemented as number one at AZ Alkmaar, the 21-year-old has been a Football Manager favourite in recent years. The Dutchman starts the game with a solid set of stats, dropping below a 12 in just two of the 13 goalkeeping attributes.
He has an impressive 16 for aerial reach and 15 for composure and jumping reach. Valued at between £15m-£20m at the start of the game, he could be a fixture in your side for a decade.
Mike Penders (19), Chelsea
Chelsea have hoovered up some of Europe’s best young talent in recent years. Goalkeepers in particular have been a favourite of the recruitment team, with several signed and sent out on loan to develop.
Mike Penders will spent the season on loan at Strasbourg, where he’ll hope to improve attributes that include 15 aerial reach, 14 reflexes and 14 handling. Still just 19, he might not reach his peak for a decade.
Guillaume Restes (20), Toulouse
Another who has been on the radar of Football Manager players for a while. The 20-year-old Guillaume Restes is already approaching a century of first-team appearances for Toulouse. He won a silver medal with France at the 2024 Olympics and has been backed to break into Les Bleus’ senior squad in the near future.
Dennis Seimen (19), Stuttgart
On loan at SC Paderborn 07 at the start of the game, you’ll have to wait a while to get your hands on Dennis Seimen. However, the 19-year-old looks worth the wait and an asking price of around £10m.
Though yet to leave his teens, Seimen has just one goalkeeping attribute under 12, with highs of 16 for throwing and rushing out tendency, alongside a 15 for reflexes.
Noah Atubolu (23), Freiburg
The most mature option on this list, and a more realistic target than PSG’s Lucas Chevalier, arguably the best young goalkeeper on the game.
Atubolu can be signed for around £20m-£25m and could be a bargain as he matures. With scores of 16 for one on ones, bravery, jumping reach and strength, the German is a big presence.
