The release clause in Liam Delap’s contract will become active after Ipswich Town were relegated from the Premier League.
Ipswich’s relegation was confirmed after a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Saturday. Delap has been a bright spark in an otherwise tough season for the Tractor Boys, who will return to the Championship next season after a single season in the top tier.

Ipswich let down ‘brain-wise’ after Premier League relegation
Ipswich defender Luke Woolfenden reflected on the club’s difficult Premier League campaign at full-time. Kieran McKenna’s team returned to the Premier League after a 21-year absence this season, having earned back-to-back promotions from League One to the top flight.
Woolfenden said Ipswich are determined to bounce back at the first attempt. He feels the club have let themselves down ‘brain-wise’ at periods of the season.
“Obviously disappointed, but within the group and support there is a sense of pride over where we have come from,” the defender said to Premier League Productions.
“We’ve not been at it this season. I think brain-wise we have probably let ourselves down one too many times.
“Disappointed and gutted the dream is over but I think there’s is a pride and determination that we want to be back here in 14 months.”
On Kieran McKenna’s message to the group, he added:”We went over to the away end at the end and it’s full. They’ve been brilliant. We want to come back here and give a better account of ourselves in 14 months and go toe-to-toe with Newcastle.”
