Mohamed Salah breaks Premier League goal involvement record

Mohamed Salah has made a habit of breaking records.

In a week where Liverpool’s leading scorer pledged his future to the club with a new deal, Salah is celebrating another momentous milestone.

The Egyptian international assisted Luis Diaz’s opener during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over West Ham on Sunday, his 18th assist of the Premier League campaign.

Salah’s delightful assist for Diaz was also his 45th league goal involvement of the 2024/25 campaign, setting a new Premier League record for a 38-game season.

The 32-year-old had tied the landmark set by Arsenal’s Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (2022/23) but has now surpassed those names to take the record outright.

The overall record for goals and assists in a Premier League season is 47, shared by ex-Newcastle striker Andy Cole (1993/94) and Blackburn Rover’s Alan Shearer (1994/95). However, that duo achieved those numbers when the Premier League was a 42-game competition.
