The Ballon d’Or awards ceremony is one of the marquee events in the football calendar, but the 2024 edition may be one of the more controversial in its history.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri was named the best male player of last season, a decision which caused much anger at Real Madrid, who felt Vinicius Junior was the rightful winner.
The Spanish club boycotted the event entirely, with no representatives attending the event in Paris on Monday evening, despite the fact they won Club of the Year and Carlo Ancelotti was named Coach of the Year.
There were a number of other awards handed out on the night to honour some of the best footballers in 2023/24, so here’s every winner from the show.
