Team News
West Ham United
Nuno Espírito Santo has confirmed West Ham will be without three injured players for the visit of Newcastle. Dinos Mavropanos (leg) and Niclas Füllkrug (leg) remain out of the squad. However, both players are now back training on the grass and progressing towards a return. Meanwhile, Ollie Scarles is in recovery after undergoing successful surgery on his collarbone. Following a poor team performance against Leeds, the manager may be tempted to make changes. Mateus Fernandes, Callum Wilson, and Freddie Potts are all pushing for a start. Each of them impressed as substitutes in the last match.
Newcastle United
Eddie Howe will likely restore his key players for the trip to West Ham. Nick Pope, Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, and Joelinton are all set to start. The manager rested all four during the midweek Carabao Cup win over Spurs. Howe reported no fresh injury worries from that game. However, Will Osula (ankle) and Lewis Hall (thigh) both remain major doubts for this fixture. Newcastle will also still be without the injured trio of Tino Livramento (knee), Yoane Wissa (knee), and Harrison Ashby (thigh).
Form
West Ham United
West Ham’s form has been dreadful. This run has left them with just four points from nine games, their worst-ever start to a Premier League season. Furthermore, they have lost all their home league games so far. In fact, another loss here would be historic. It would be the first time in club history that they have lost their first four home league games of a season.
Newcastle United
The Magpies, in contrast, have built significant momentum. They have won four of their last five games in all competitions. This run includes an impressive 2-0 cup win away at Spurs in midweek. Their league away form remains a concern, however. They are currently winless in their last seven matches on the road. This fixture, at a ground where they are unbeaten in six, provides a perfect chance to end that poor run.
Predicted Lineups
West Ham United predicted XI: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf; Magassa, Soucek; Bowen, Paquetá, Summerville; Wilson
Newcastle United predicted XI: Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn; Guimarães, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon
