Unai Emery has made Aston Villa Europe’s toughest away day

Unai Emery has done an incredible job since taking charge at Aston Villa.

The Spaniard led Aston Villa to Champions League qualification during his first full season in charge, while The Villans are currently flying high in the Premier League table again.

Villa have won 12 of their last 13 games in all competitions and are positioned nicely in the Premier League and Europe.

Emery’s side are third in the Premier League, just six points behind leaders Arsenal. Villa have not finished higher than fourth in the top flight since a runners-up finish in the Premier League’s inaugural 1992/93 campaign.

A key factor behind their impressive run has been a resolute record on home soil. Villa incredibly, have the highest home win percentage of any side in Europe’s top five leagues across the last 12 months.

Emery’s side have won 82.1% of their games at Villa Park, a record that puts them ahead of giants including Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

This season, Villa have lost just one of their 10 league games at Villa Park, a shock setback against Crystal Palace in August. They’ve won their last eight home games consecutively in the Premier League and also boast a 100% home record (3/3) in the Europa League this season.

The five teams with the highest home win percentage since January 2025

  1. Aston Villa – 82.1%
  2. Atletico Madrid – 80.8%
  3. Manchester City – 80%
  4. Bayern Munich – 80&
  5. Barcelona – 79.3%
