Fernando Torres has signed a one-year contract extension at Atletico Madrid.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker was out of contract this summer, but has penned a new one deal with the Champions League finalists after returning to form for his home town club last season.
Torres, who was heavily criticised during his spell at Chelsea following a £50million, scored 11 goals in 30 appearances for Atletico last season, earning him a new deal at the club.
Torres said:
I am happy to be here. I never had any doubts about where I wanted to be during the course of this process – even though we didn’t know what was going to happen. In the end, the important thing is that I got what I had hoped for.
Torres returned to Atletico in 2014 from Chelsea after an unsuccessful loan spell at AC Milan.
