Thierry Henry is set to be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.
Henry is widely recognised as one of the finest footballers in Premier League history, following a decorated career with Arsenal. After joining from Juventus in 1999, Henry won two league titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners, while setting a host of records.
His 228 goals for the North London side, across two spells, represent a club record, while his three FWA Footballer of the Year and four Premier League Golden Boot awards are joint records. He also shares the record for most assists in a Premier League season (20).
At international level, he won a World Cup and European Championship with France andw as his nation’s record scorer at the time of his retirement.
Henry will be handed the award at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday evening.
Speaking about his recognition, Henry said: “Football has given me everything and I gave it my all.

Since the award’s introduction in 1996, several big-name football figures have won the award. Among them include Manchester United icons Alex Ferguson, Bobby Charlton, George Best and David Beckham, Brazil great Pele, and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
Cyclist Mark Cavendish won the 2024 Lifetime Achievement award.
