Ten Hag ‘disappointed’ as Man United concede ‘soft goals’ against Spurs

Erik ten Hag said he was disappointed at the ‘soft goals’ Manchester United conceded during his side’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

United twice led in an entertaining Premier League contest against Spurs at Old Trafford, with Rasmus Hojlund opening the scoring inside three minutes with a finish lashed beyond Guglielmo Vicario.

Richarlison’s header brought the visitors level on 19 minutes, but United restored their lead before the break as Marcus Rashford rolled home his fourth Premier League goal of the campaign.

The Red Devils were pegged back a second time just moments into the second half, however, as Rodrigo Bentancur pulled Spurs level with a goal that ultimately earned Ange Postecoglou’s side a point.

Both sides missed good headed chances with Cristian Romero and Scott McTominay wasteful in good areas, and Ten Hag admitted he was disappointed not to leave with all three points.

“I am quite disappointed, when you go ahead twice and then concede two soft goals it is a bit frustrating, but you have to take it as it is,” the Dutchman told BBC’s Match of the Day.

“The attitude from the team was great, the spirit was great. We fought and gave everything. The fans were behind us and I think it was a great game for everyone to see, not just Manchester United fans, because there was a great tempo to the game.

“Senior players like Casemiro, Martinez and Luke Shaw are returning and when you add that to our team I am sure it is a strong side.”
