Santiago Montiel has won The FIFA Puskás Award for 2025 after an outstanding overhead kick for Argentinian outfit Independiente against Independiente Rivadavia.
Montiel, the cousin of World Cup-winning Argentina defender Gonzalo Montiel, netted a spectacular overhead kick during an Argentinian Liga Profesional de Fútbol match in May 2025.
After a set piece was cleared to the edge of the area, the 25-year-old audaciously and acrobatically launched the ball back towards goal, finding the top corner from distance.
It was an incredible strike from Montiel and the second successive year the Puskas award has been won hy an overhead kick, following Alejandro Garnacho’s effort for Manchester United at Everton in 2024.
Which was better? Take a look at Montiel’s magic moment below and let us know in the comments.
