Rice urges Arsenal to ignore ‘noise’ around style of play

Declan Rice has urged Arsenal to ignore the ‘noise’ around the club’s style of play and focus on winning games.

Arsenal remain in pursuit of four major trophies this season after an excellent campaign to date under Mikel Arteta. The Gunner secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday after a 2-1 win at Mansfield Town.

Despite their strong position, Arsenal have faced criticism this season. The North London side’s reliance on set-pieces has been a particular gripe, while Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler and midfielder Pascal Gross slammed the side’s perceived time-wasting during their Premier League clash last week.

Rice has said that ‘noise’ is part of playing for a club like Arsenal and said those inside the Gunners’ camp are bothered about outside perception. He said the focus remains on winning games and ending the season with silverware.

“Since I’ve been at Arsenal there is noise every week. That’s what comes with playing for Arsenal,” Rice said to Sky Sports.

“People are going to or not like parts of your game. Just focus on ourselves. The main thing is winning.”
