PSG have dismissed ‘ridiculous’ rumours that Luis Enrique could quit the club, less than a month after his appointment as manager at the Parc des Princes.
Reports from Spain emerged this week suggesting Enrique was considering his position at the club, amid the saga surrounding Kylian Mbappe and the forward’s refusal to sign a new contract.
Enrique had been a reported target for Chelsea and Tottenham earlier this summer and held talks with both clubs regarding a potential move to the Premier League.
The inner uncertainty at PSG has also led to rumours that football advisor Luis Campos could depart, but Fabrizio Romano has reported that speculation the duo could leave has been described from within the club as ‘complete nonsense’.
‘Paris Saint-Germain spokesperson tells me on Luis Enrique considering to leave PSG: “Today’s rumours are as ridiculous as they are completely out of place,”‘ Romano wrote on Twitter.
‘Paris Saint-Germain are dismissing as “complete nonsense” stories on both Luis Enrique and Luis Campos leaving’.
Enrique has since issued his own response to the rumours, posting the caption “All for one and one for all” on his Instagram page, alongside a photo of the Spanish coach and his PSG staff.
PSG have embarked on a summer overhaul after a disappointing Champions League exit last season, with high-profile names in Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi having departed. Mbappe and Marco Verratti are among the established stars who could also leave before the transfer deadline.
The French champions have been active in the transfer market to replace their departing names and are closing in on deals for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele and Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos. That duo could join a long list of new arrivals that includes Milian Skriniar, Lucas Hernandez, Marco Asensio and Manuel Ugarte.
