Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC are prepared to offer Harvey Elliott an escape route from Aston Villa.
Elliott joined Aston Villa on loan from Liverpool in the summer but has struggled for first-team football.
Villa want to terminate the loan arrangement, to avoid paying a compulsory £35m fee, which would be activated based on appearances. Elliott has played just 97 minutes of Premier League football across three outings for Aston Villa.
It’s been a frustrating period for the winger, who was named Player of the Tournament as England won the u-21 European Championship in the summer.
As Elliott has already played for both Liverpool and Aston Villa this season, he would be unable to sign for another team whose season runs concurrently with the Premier League.
His options would be to remain at Liverpool until the summer, or move to a team whose season starts in 2026, which includes MLS and Scandinavia.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Charlotte FC are preparing an ambitious move to sign Elliott on loan until June.

The Crown, whose current squad contains ex-Premier League names including Wilfried Zaha, Ashley Westwood and Harry Toffolo, want to add Elliott to their ranks on a short-term basis. The 2026 MLS season starts in late February.
