A dominant Liverpool swept Man United aside at Old Trafford on Sunday to maintain their 100 percent record in the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold had an early goal chalked off, but the Reds went into the break two goals up anyway thanks to a brace from Luis Diaz.
Mo Salah completed the rout with his side’s third in the second half as the Egyptian winger ended the contest with three goal involvements.
Man United player ratings
Andre Onana – 5
Arguably could have done better for the second goal, but Onana was far from United’s biggest problem in this game.
Noussair Mazraoui – 5
Got himself into good attacking positions and even got a few shots off, but he was found totally out of position for Liverpool’s first goal.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5
There have been worse first starts in the Premier League, but De Ligt may be wondering why left Bayern Munich after this. Booked for a meaty challenge on Luis Diaz in the second half, he was subbed off in the 69th minute.
Lisandro Martinez – 3
Made a couple of careless passes in the first half that could have been punished but the centre-back recovered well on both occasions. Had a terrible few minutes just before the break earning a booking and losing his man for the second goal. A terrible pass right after the third goal led directly to a Mo Salah shot. Attempted an audacious overhead kick in the 73rd minute that went wide.
Diogo Dalot – 5
The makeshift left-back was United’s best defender on the day, not that that’s saying much. Won all three of his tackles and made eight recoveries, but he was caught way out position for Mo Salah’s goal.
Casemiro – 1
A liability in the first half, Casemiro gave the ball away under no pressure to hand Liverpool the opportunity for the opener. Dispossessed again for the second before being hooked at halftime. He’s cooked.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5
Tried his best and put in a defensive shift in the first half, but could only do so much. Mainoo was bullied off the ball for Liverpool’s third, which killed the game as a contest.
Bruno Fernandes – 6
Fernandes got a pass wrong on a counter-attack which had potential for a chance on goal, but it was his midfield colleagues who made the critical mistakes in this game.
Marcus Rashford – 5
Seems to be missing that acceleration that used to make him such a threat on the counter. Anonymous in the opening half, Rashford was more lively after the interval. Provided two good crosses for Joshua Zirkee in the second half.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5
A lively presence but Garnacho’s final ball was poor. Too slow to release the ball at times, handing possession right back to Liverpool too often. Subbed off in the 69th minute
Joshua Zirkzee – 6
Booked in the first half for a needless shirt pull on Mo Salah, Zirkzee couldn’t quite connect with his new teammates when United got near the goal. Got on the end of a couple of chances in the second half.
Substitutes
Toby Collyer (45′) – 5
The 20-year-old was thrown into the firepit and looked out of his depth initially. Settled into the game as time went on and didn’t disgrace himself.
Amad Diallo (69′) – 7
Played with real purpose and directness after coming on, Diallo was the side’s biggest threat in the final 20 minutes.
Harry Maguire (69′) – 6
Got a shot on target with a header immediately after coming on.
Christian Eriksen (86′) – N/A
Not on long enough to warrant a rating.

Liverpool player ratings
Alisson Becker – 6.5
A tough one to score, as Alisson had very little to do in the entire game. The Brazilian was only forced into action on three occasions.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7.5
Unlucky to see a goal disallowed in the first half, Alexander-Arnold spread the ball with ease in a free role. Made sure to come off with a smile on his face this week when he was subbed off for the third week in a row.
Ibrahim Konate – 7
A comfortable day out for the centre-back, who wasn’t overly troubled by United’s attack.
Virgil van Dijk – 7.5
A good display which was only spoiled by a booking.
Andy Robertson – 7
A decent performance from the Scot, who marshalled Garnacho well, but did have trouble defending Diallo.
Ryan Gravenberch – 8
Looked as lively as he has ever done with his driving run that helped created the early chance for Alexander-Arnold that was chalked off.
Alexis MacAllister – 7.5
Solid performance in the first half, MacAlister came outafter the break with a fire lit underneath him. Dispossessed Mainoo for
Dominik Szoboszlai – 8
Had the run of midfield in the first half, which might say more about Man United’s midfield than anything else, but Szoboszlai was impressive nonetheless. Provided a nice assist for Mo Salah’s goal.
Mo Salah – 9.5
Set up the first goal with a terrific cross, followed by another assist for Luis Diaz’s second. A superb finish for his side’s third goal. Supreme as ever.
Luis Diaz – 9
Headed home the opener, before winning the ball and starting the attack that ultimately led to the second. One of his most lethal performances since joining Liverpool.
Diogo Jota – 6
For all of Liverpool’s dominance in attack, the Portuguese forward was relatively anonymous at Old Trafford.
Substitutes
Cody Gakpo (66′) – 5
The Dutchman didn’t contribute much after coming on, save for a couple of tackles and two shots off target.
Darwin Nunez (75′) – 5
Got one shot off towards the end of the game, which he pulled wide.
Conor Bradley (75′) – 6
Set up a chance for Szoboszlai which should have been buried. Linked up well with Salah.
Kostas Tsimikas (83′) – N/A
Not on long enough to warrant a score.
