Liverpool are monitoring the performances of 18-year-old Wolves midfielder Mateus Mane.
Mane has caught the eye since breaking into the Wolves team last month and has scored in back-to-back Premier League games against West Ham and Everton.
The teenager became Wolves’ youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer in the process and his performances have not gone unnoticed.
Liverpool are tracking Mane, with Wolves unlikely to be able to retain the player if the side are relegated this season. Wolves are currently bottom of the Premier League table and 14 points from safety.
Transfer journalist Dean Jones has revealed Liverpool are leading the chase for Mane, who spent time in the academy at Rochdale before moving to Molineux.
“Liverpool are the club I’ve been told about,” Jones said.
“Likely because his representative already has several players there. But realistically, he’s going to be very difficult, if not impossible, to keep hold of.”
