Liverpool confirm ‘significant knee injury’ for Conor Bradley

Liverpool have confirmed that Conor Bradley has sustained a ‘significant knee injury’ will the full-back expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Bradley picked up the issue late on during the club’s goalless draw at Arsenal on Thursday. The incident was at the centre of controversy, as Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli attempted to push Bradley from the pitch as he lay in pain on the ground.

Martinelli later issued an apology for his actions, which were deemed ‘disgraceful’ by pundits at full-time.

Liverpool have now revealed the extent of the issue. In a club statement, the Reds revealed the Northern Ireland international has sustained a ‘significant knee injury’.

The club have said ‘no timescale’ has been placed on Bradley’s return, though he’s expected to miss the remainder of the campaign.

Bradley will also miss Northern Ireland’s World Cup play-off campaign in March, and likely the tournament proper should the side qualify.

“Liverpool FC can confirm Conor Bradley has sustained a significant knee injury,” the statement read.

“The right-back suffered the issue in the latter stages of Thursday night’s Premier League fixture away at Arsenal.

“Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days and then begin a period of rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre.

“No timeframe is being placed on his return to playing at this stage of the process.”
