Hoeneß takes aim at Liverpool with bold Kane valuation

Uli Hoeneß has taken a dig at Liverpool’s transfer business during a wide-ranging interview with Kicker.

The Bayern Munich honorary president compared the value of Harry Kane to Liverpool’s record signing Alexander Isak, suggesting the England captain represents far better value than the Swedish forward.

Hoeneß noted that Bayern initially took a risk by spending 100 million euros on Kane in 2023, according to Transfermarkt. It was a gamble that has paid off handsomely.

The veteran striker has since performed exceptionally, breaking multiple scoring records at the Allianz Arena and establishing himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Bundesliga history. Hoeneß believes his market value has skyrocketed as a result.

“If we consider the price-performance ratio, I’d say 150 million,” Hoeneß told Kicker. He then used Isak’s move to Merseyside as a baseline for his argument.

“But then you see that Alexander Isak of Liverpool cost 150 million euros. If he’s worth 150 million, then Harry is worth 250 million euros.”

Isak has been hampered by a serious leg injury since joining Liverpool from Newcastle United for a British record fee.

His debut season at Anfield has been largely disrupted, leaving questions about whether the club acted wisely in breaking their transfer record for a player who had yet to prove himself at the highest level.

Kane, by contrast, has faced no such doubts. He remains the focal point of a Bayern side chasing domestic and European honours, consistently delivering in the biggest matches.

The interview also touched on Bayern’s pursuit of a historic 102nd league goal — a milestone Hoeneß believes Kane deserves to claim.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, meanwhile, remains confident Isak will eventually justify his fee.

He expects the Swedish international to return after the international break and make a significant impact in the final stretch of the season.
