FIFA 23 Player Ratings: The 10 best players on FIFA 23

FIFA 23 arrives at the end of this month and fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting the latest edition of the game.

The game will be the last instalment in the EA Sports FIFA franchise, with the long-running partnership between EA and FIFA coming to an end after more than two decades.

EA Sports have increased excitement around its release with the unveiling of the top 23 player ratings, with five star names sharing the title as the game’s best player.

Here are the 10 best players on FIFA 23.

10. Manuel Neuer – 90

Manuel Neuer has been a wall-like presence on many edition of the FIFA franchise and the German goalkeeper is again rated highly on FIFA 23.

Neuer will turn 37 later this season but remains a formidable part of the Bayern Munich side, where he has won ten Bundesliga titles and two Champions League trophies, both as part of trebles.

9. Thibaut Courtois – 90

Thiabut Courtois also receives a rating of 90 in FIFA 23, with the Belgian joining Neuer as the joint-best rated goalkeeper on the game.

Courtois’ rating comes following a phenomenal season at Real Madrid, one which saw the shot-stopper win a La Liga and Champions League double. His performances were crucial to the success of the Spaniards, including an outstanding final performance as Real beat Liverpool to be crowned European champions.

Courtois made nine saves – the most recorded in a Champions League final – to keep a clean sheet and give Madrid a 1-0 win in Paris. His 90 reflexes, 89 handling and 89 positioning will make Courtois tough to beat on FIFA Ultimate Team.

8. Virgil van Dijk – 90

Virgil van Dijk is rated at 90 in the latest edition, making the Dutch defender the joint-second best player in the Premier League.

Van Dijk leads all centre-backs on FIFA 23 and will look to thwart opposition forwards with a huge 91 rating for defending and 86 physicality. The Netherlands captain has had a dip in form over the season’s opening weeks, but in the eyes of EA remains the best in the business.

7. Cristiano Ronaldo – 90

Cristiano Ronaldo has had a slight decrease in rating for FIFA 23, despite scoring 24 goals in all competitions for Manchester United last season.

Ronaldo returned to the Red Devils last summer and was named as the club’s Player of the Season in 2021/22, but was unable to help a struggling side to Champions League qualification.

Ronaldo’s rating of 90 is his lowest in more than a decade, since being rated at 89 on FIFA 11,

6. Mohamed Salah – 90

Mohamed Salah was named as the Premier League’s finest footballer in 2021/22 and is the fifth footballer with a rating of 90 on FIFA 23.

Salah won a PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year double for the second time last season, after leading the Premier League for both goals (23 – joint with Heung-min Son) and assists (13).

The Egyptian’s 90 pace, 90 dribbling and 89 shooting will make him a nightmare for Ultimate Team defences.

5. Kevin De Bruyne – 91

Kevin De Bruyne is the highest-rated player in the Premier League, coming in with an overall of 91.

De Bruyne’s greatest attribute is unsurprisingly his passing, with the Belgian given a score of 93. The Manchester City midfielder remains one of Europe’s best creative talents and has now climbed to eighth in the Premier League’s all-time assist charts with 90.

Steven Gerrard (92) is next in his sights as he continues to climb the rankings, with De Bruyne having incredibly played less than half of the Premier League games of the former Liverpool captain.

4. Lionel Messi – 91

Lionel Messi has taken a slight decrease in FIFA 23, but remains the joint-best player on the game. It’s the first time since FIFA 19 that Messi has not been the outright highest-rated player in FIFA.

The Argentine has dropped two overall points from FIFA 22, following a mixed first season at Paris Saint-Germain in which the 35-year-old scored just six league goals. However, Messi has began the new campaign in superb form with three goals and seven assists in his first six Ligue 1 appearances.

3. Kylian Mbappe – 91

The face of the franchise in each of the past three editions, Kylian Mbappe is the joint-best player on FIFA 23 with an overall rating of 91.

Mbappe’s scintillating speed is reflected with a pace of 97, with further scores for dribbling (92) and shooting (89) set to make the Frenchman a formidable opponent to stop.

The 23-year-old has finished as Ligue 1’s leading scorer in each of the past four seasons and he will be crucial to PSG’s hopes of Champions League success this season, after penning a record-breaking deal to commit his future to the club.

2. Robert Lewandowski – 91

Barcelona will have one of FIFA 23’s five best players in their ranks this season, after signing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski decided on a new challenge after eight decorated seasons at the Allianz Arena, in which he scored 344 goals in 375 appearances and won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.

The Poland international has averaged 45 goals per season since 2015, the sort of record that is recognised with an overall of 91 in FIFA 23.

1. Karim Benzema – 91

Karim Benzema is the biggest riser in these rankings, climbing from an overall of 89 last season to 91 in FIFA 23 and a place at the top of the rankings.

Benzema’s incredible season saw him score 44 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, a run which included a joint-record ten goals in the Champions League’s knockout rounds alone.

That haul included back-to-back hat-tricks against PSG and Chelsea, with Benzema’s brilliance behind Real Madrid’s record-extending 14th Champions League title.

A place at the top of FIFA 23’s rankings is nice, but the Ballon d’Or is the prize that Benzema’s eyes will be fixed upon.
