Feyenood midfielder left out of team amid Premier League links

Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber has been left out of the Feyenoord starting side today amid transfer links.

Timber’s contract in Rotterdam expires at the end of the campaign and the midfielder is subject of interest from clubs this month. The 24-year-old, who is the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien, has been monitored by Premier League clubs regularly in recent months.

Arsenal have checked in on his progress, while West Ham, Manchester United and Newcastle have also been named as potential suitors. There is strong competition for Timber throughout Europe, with Napoli, Lazio and Borussia Dortmund among those keen.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that transfer talks have been ongoing in recent days, while his omission from the side to face Sparta Rotterdam in the derby on Sunday is a clear indication a move may materialise before the January deadline.

The Dutch international has made 16 league appearances for Feyenoord this season, scoring twice and providing three assists.
