Matheus Cunha believes Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Leeds is a ‘good point’ after a hard-fought result at Elland Road.
Cunha’s second-half strike earned Manchester United a point at Leeds on Sunday, with the Brazilian steering in an equaliser just three minutes after Brenden Aaronson’s opener for the home side.
It was an entertaining encounter between the Northern rivals, who both battled valiantly but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first period, with a header flashing off the post. At the other end, Leny Yoro forced a fine save from Lucas Perri in the Leeds goal.
Aaronson’s opener threatened to derail a depleted Manchester United side, but a swift change from Ruben Amorim brought the teams level. On as a substitute, Joshua Zirkzee played in Cunha who finished past Perri.
Neither side could find a winner as the points were shared, a result that Cunha felt was a positive one for his side.
“After the game against Wolves it was a little bit sad for us. Of course we want to win every single game, and then have a big opportunity to get into the top four,” Cunha said speaking to TNT Sports:
“We need to keep going. After the draw, to come here isn’t easy, we know how big this game is for everyone. But it is good to get a point here.
“It was so hard. We know what to expect, of course for them they try to do everything to win. It’s hard, a lot of physical, but every single game when we wear this shirt we have to give it all, and today was no different.”
