Six more transfers Chelsea can complete following Romelu Lukaku deal

Chelsea are not done in the transfer window after nearing a deal with Roma for Romelu Lukaku.

The striker is set to join the Italian club on a season-long loan, but what’s next for the Blues in the market?

The west London outfit still have a number of players they would like to offload before deadline day, while they are still looking for another attacker to add to their frontline.

When asked this week about potential transfers, Mauricio Pochettino said: “I know very well that the club is working very hard to try and finish our business with still a few days so I think that will happen. At the moment, we are working to try and deliver what we want but there is nothing to communicate at the moment.”

Six transfers Chelsea can complete following Lukaku deal:

In: Emile Smith-Rowe

To the surprise of just about everyone, Emile Smith Rowe emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea this week. Pochettino reportedly wants a winger who can also play as an attacking midfielder, and the 23-year-old fits that bill.

According to reports, the Blues have had an approach knocked back by Arsenal, while it’s been suggested elsewhere that a swap deal for Mykhailo Mudryk has been mooted.

Sutton ‘baffled’ by Lukaku situation ahead of Chelsea transfer

Out: Callum Hudson-Odoi

The 22-year-old had been linked with Fulham for much of the summer, but it appears as if Nottingham Forest are set to win the race for Callum Hudson-Odoi. Could the winger be switching places with the next man on this list?

In: Brennan Johnson

If Pochettino is on the hunt for a new right-winger, then Brennan Johnson makes sense as a potential signing. But Forest reportedly value the Wales international at £50 million, which is surely far too much money for a player who hasn’t shown a huge amount beyond his blistering pace. No wonder Chelsea have apparently cooled their jets and could turn their attention to Lyon’s Rayan Cherki. Tottenham are also said to be interested in the 22-year-old.

Colwill calls Chelsea midfielder Caicedo ‘worth every pound’

Out: Marc Cucurella

One of the most expensive benchwarmers in the Premier League right now, Marc Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton in a transfer worth over £60m only last summer. But he has not played a single minute under Pochettino this season.

The Spaniard is the subject of a transfer bid from Manchester United, who are without both of their senior left-backs in Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia due to injury. Pochettino would not be drawn into talking about a potential exit during his press conference on Tuesday, saying that the player would be available for selection in their EFL Cup meeting with AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday.

In: Ivan Toney

Chelsea are one of several clubs linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney. The Blues are currently looking for a new number nine, but the Englishman’s ban for breaking the rules on betting means he is not available to play again until January. That is when Chelsea are expected to come in for the 27-year-old, although you wouldn’t be surprised if they came in with a bid before the summer transfer window closes to get the jump on their rivals.

Bayern Munich ‘target’ Chelsea transfer

Out: Trevoh Chalobah

Another defender with no appearances so far this term, Trevoh Chalobah has this week been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. The German champions are looking for a replacement for Benjamin Pavard, who is joining Inter Milan. Chelsea have reportedly turned down a loan offer and would prefer a permanent transfer.
