Chelsea are interested in signing Manchester United target Ivan Perisic according to reports.
The Daily Mirror claim that the reigning Champions could make a late move for the Inter Milan winger as they look to strengthen their squad.
The Blues have a relatively small squad, and have struggled to strengthen in a number of key departments all over the field in this summer’s transfer market. Injuries to Eden Hazard and Pedro saw Chelsea give a debut to unknown youngster, Bogo, in their opening day 3-2 defeat to Burnley.
Their lack of squad depth could see Antonio Conte make a late move for the Croatian, who even scored a sublime goal against his side in a preseason defeat in Asia.
Manchester United have had a long standing interest in the 28-year-old, but have struggled to reach a deal with the Nerazzurri. They do not want to pay over the odds for a player of Perisic’s age, while Anthony Martial also gave Mourinho something to think about during preseason, as well as a short cameo in Sunday’s 4-0 win over West Ham.
They could now be set to miss out on the winger, who is believed to be valued at around £48m. Barcelona have also been linked, but we believe that move to be unlikely.
